Kurukuthurai murugan kovil

                                                 
                                          
                     Kurukuthurai murugan kovil is located in place called kurukuthurai near thamarabarani river.Hence its is called as kurukuthurai murugam kovil.During the rainy season the temple is entirely covered by water.Sometimes the temple sinks in water.

Nellaiappar thirukovil usually called as nellaiappar temple. Nellaiappar temple is one of the five sabhas. This temple is called as thamara(copper) sabha. Other sabhas are chidabaram (gold), Madurai (silver),thiruvalankadu (ruby), kutralam (painting).This temple is twin temple dedicated to nellaiapaar (lord shiva) and kanthimathi (paruvathi).Total area of the temple is 14 acres and it is located in tirunelveli town.There are four manadappam in the temple.
Mani Mandapam
The musical pillars in the mani Mandapam produces sound in pitches when struck.

Sangili Mandapam
In the beginging the nellaiappar temple and kanthimathi temple were independent structures, later it was linked by chain. mandappam .

Nandi mandapam
The Nandi mandapam has a big statue of Nandi, similar to those at Tanjore and Rameswaram.

Vasantha Mandapam
A Vasantha Mandapam with 100 pillars, in the middle of a Flower Garden.


The workship time starts from 5.30 am to 12.30 pm  and again in the evening it starts from 4.30 pm To 9.00 pm.Daily at 6 o’clock in the morning, Kanthimathi Amman is brought to Nellaiappar Temple in a chariot to wake him up.
